Synopsis

One of the most comprehensive collections of Islamic art from Turkey. It was printed by the New York Graphic Society in collaboration with the UNESCO, as a part of the series “Collection Unesco de L’art Mondial”. Richard Ettinghausen was the curator of Islamic art at the Metropolitan museum of art and professor of Islamic art at New York University. He studied Islamic art under some of the foremost authorities in pre World War II Germany. In this introduction he discusses samples of the best Turkish miniatures from different periods.
